*WHAT IS A MUSEUM MOUNT?*
is it hinged with pressure sensitive tape?
is it reversible?
is it mounted in 100% cotton or alpha cellulose material?
is the backing board also of the same materials?
is heat activated dry mounting archival?

*IS IT ACID FREE?*
are there buffering agents added?
what is the reserve amount of the buffering agent?

To answer these and many more questions F.A.C.T.S. (Fine Art Care and Treatment Standards) was organized in 1994 to make some sense out of the confusion in terminology and practices. Several committees were formed within this organization to write standards for materials and practices. The GAFP (Generally Accepted Framing Practices) is one of these committees.

 

This committee is comprised of 35 ndividuals throughout the industry. Today there are standards to go by. Written by FACTS, these standards are accepted by the
PPFA as their standards and as the standards by any manufacturers in the industry. Feel free to ask if what you are aving framed meets these standards for maximum preservation protection your cherished art.
